Sensation Pixelated (2015) is an installation by Luke Robinson comprising three video projections of slowly changing colours. Each projection contains 10 to 12 pixelated images of the following three paintings: Piano Keyboard / Lake (1909) by Kupka; Impression III (Concert, 1911) by Kandinsky; and, Music (1912) by Luigi Russolo.
Each of these artists believed that vibrations from the ether could produce visual sounds. For this work Luke has gathered copies of their paintings from the contemporary ether - that of the Internet to create a mesmerising chamber piece.
At various intervals the ghostly sounds of music can also be heard: the music that the artists aspired to create is rendered (almost) audible.
Impression III by Kandinsky was screened at 107 Sydney and No Vacancy Melbourne in 2018.
